Myfanwy Roberts, who lives in Bala, celebrated her 100th birthday on 14 July with a family party in Ganllwyd village hall.
Rather than asking for gifts, Myfanwy requested that guests give donations to Friends of Dolgellau Hospital.
She also asked for donations at a second party, organised for her by staff at Awel y Coleg retirement complex in Bala where she resides.
Myfanwy’s funding requests were an expression of gratitude for the support and care that Dolgellau Hospital had offered family members over the years.
Her late husband, Hugh Roberts, had spent his last months in the hospital before he passed away aged 96 in 2014, from conditions associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Her brother, 89-year-old Gruffydd (one of eight other siblings), was transferred to Dolgellau after spending time in Ysbyty Gwynedd whilst seriously ill with a leaking heart valve.
It was there that Gruffydd was taken care of by Dolgellau nursing staff and recovered to the extent that he has now started driving again.
Myfanwy’s request for donations paid off and resulted in a combined total of £550 being raised for the hospital League of Friends.
Her son Glyn said: “These are just two examples of what we owe as a family to Dolgellau Hospital.
“In addition members of our extended family have much to thank the hospital for in relation to looking after the health of other family members.
“Mam hopes that the League will be able to do something useful with the money for the benefit of the hospital and its patients.”
