POLICE have launched an investigation following the grisly discovery of 20 illegally butchered sheep which were found near Maentwrog.
The carcasses and their fleeces were discovered at the Dwyryd estuary, on Wednesday, 28 December.
Police discovered the shocking remains in black bin bags with the animal’s ear tags removed, making it difficult for the officers to trace the owner.
The North Wales Police Rural Crime team are now appealing for the public to help them trace who was responsible and who the sheep belonged to.
