Police are investigating the theft of 100 Welsh Mountain ewes.

They were reportedly taken from the mountains above Pennal, Gwynedd.

PCSO Rhys Evans said: “On 16 July, over 700 sheep were brought down from the mountains for shearing and subsequently returned to the mountain for grazing.

"On 12 Sept, the sheep were once again gathered from the mountains, and it was discovered 100 sheep were unaccounted for. The fencing and boundaries have been checked, and it is believed the sheep have been stolen. The sheep are Welsh mountain sheep of various ages and will have the losing farm’s ear notch.”
