The alarm was raised yesterday when a group of 12 failed to emerge from a trip down a mine.
Shortly after midnight yesterday morning (Sunday), Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team and the North Wales Cave Rescue Organisation were alerted to reports that the group of 12 were overdue on the Croesor Rhosydd through trip.
The group had been scheduled to emerge at 9.30pm, but when they failed to check-in, the alarm was raised.
Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team was placed on standby while three team co-ordinators checked the car parks and entry points for signs of the group.
Some of the group was located near Tanygrisiau, and it became clear then that nine members were still inside and suffering from fatigued.
Members of the North Wales Cave Rescue Team entered the system and found the rest of the group inside. They were fit and well, and the team escorted them to safety.
An Aberglaslyn spokesperson described the rescue as “another great example of multi-agency working with our colleagues from the North Wales Cave Rescue Organisation”.
Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team is a voluntary organisation, on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
“We rely entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service,” the spokesperson added.
