An Aberystwyth man will run three races to raise money for Cancer Research Wales.

The Welsh Language Commissioner's office has chosen to support the charity this year, and in September, Aberystwyth staff member Deian Creunant will run three races to help raise money for the charity. He will complete the Caernarfon and Lake Vyrnwy half marathons and Pembrokeshire’s 10k race in Dale.

As communications officer for the Welsh Language Commissioner’s office, Deian is glad to be able to support such an important charity,

He said: "I, like so many people, have had the experience of seeing members of my family affected by cancer and also benefitting from treatments that are constantly being developed. This is why research into the disease is so crucial.

"This year is an important year for the charity as it celebrates a special 60th anniversary and as I am fast approaching that age it seems appropriate that I support the research. I can only hope that my ageing legs will be able to make it to the finish line."

According to Iwan Roberts from Cancer Research Wales, the charity depends on donations in order to continue its important work.

He said: "Since 1966, we have invested over £41.86 million to fund the best researchers, clinicians and health professionals to push the boundaries of cancer research here in Wales. Our aim is to offer hope to people affected by cancer today and transform the future for patients while tackling cancer inequalities in Wales.

"We are very grateful to the Welsh Language Commissioner's office for choosing us as their charity and best wishes to Deian as he runs in September.".
