An Aberystwyth man has raised almost £1,000 for Cancer Research UK and hopes to raise even more before the end of this month.

Jeremy Turner, founder of Cwmni Arad Goch, is taking part in Cancer Research UK’s Walk 30 miles in September Challenge. Although he has smashed through his initial fundraising target of £250, he would love to raise even more for this vital charity.

“My original target was £250 but I’ve raised almost £1,000 now,” said Jeremy.

“I’ve got eight days left to raise some more before the challenge ends on 30 September.”

To complete the challenge, Jeremy said he is trying to average a mile every day.

“I live up on the Buarth and walk through town, along the prom and back home,” he explained.

“I usually call in a local coffee shop on the way.”

Explaining why he wanted to take on the challenge, 68-year-old Jeremy added: “Because I’m going through cancer at the moment I feel every little helps.

“And I’d like to say that the treatment I’m getting at Bronglais Hospital is fantastic.”

Jeremy is fully retired from his role as Artistic Director of the Arad Goch theatre company, but earlier this year he finished archiving Arad Goch’s archive and presented it to the National Library.

He is currently working on another archiving project, as he explained.

“At the moment, as well as this challenge, I am archiving items from Cwmni Cyfri Tri and Theatr Crwban, the two companies that merged to form Arad Goch, and those items will also go to the National Library.
