A DISTRAUGHT mother is calling for action on a busy route to school in Llanbadarn Fawr after her 12-year-old son was left with a badly dislocated ankle after being hit by a car.
Oisin Morris was walking from his home in Penygraig to Ysgol Penweddig school when he was struck by a car at the bottom of Primrose Hill.
The youngster faces six weeks off school and has been left immobile by the incident which saw traffic in the area grind to a standstill at around 8.40am on Thursday, 14 April.
Oisin’s mother, Samantha Morris, has now made calls for something to be done to provide a safe crossing in the area – a busy route for schoolchildren as well as one of the main commuter routes into and out of Aberystwyth.
“He was walking to school and his leg was hit by a car when he stepped out into the road,” Samantha told the Cambrian News.
“It’s always been a concern that there isn’t a safe crossing place, but this is the first time this has happened to one of my children and has made me determined to do something about it."
Dyfed-Powys Police said it is appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Llanbadarn councillors Paul James and Gareth Davies have joined calls for something to be done and are lobbying Ceredigion council to push for safety measures in the area.
