A LLANON teenager will represent the UK at a European Scouting event later this year.

Catrin Pink will take part in Roverway 2018 - a gathering of Scouts and Guides aged 16 to 22 from across Europe - in the Netherlands from 21 July to 2 August.

Catrin said it was an “incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”.

Roverway is a gathering of Scouts and Guides aged 16 to 22 from across Europe.

“I am really looking forward to learning new skills from other international Scouts and see how their Scouting differs from my own,” she said.

“It’s a great opportunity to meet new people from all over the world, try new food, learn about other cultures and other Scouting traditions from across the globe.

“I will have the opportunity to try new activities and learn new things from others.”

The UK Scout Contingent to Roverway 2018 will be made up of over 300 participants who will join over 3,000 other young people from almost all European nations on the nine day adventure.

All the UK Scouts taking part in Roverway will gather in Amsterdam to see the sights on one of Europe’s major cities and get into tune with Dutch culture and way of life.

The event will then move to The Hague for a beachside opening ceremony, after which UK participants will split up into small multinational teams to undertake a journey around the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg.
