A COMMUNITY cleaning scheme in Pwllheli has collected 100 bags of weeds and rubbish since it was established earlier this year.
Pwllheli Glân/Clean Pwllheli reached the milestone last weekend end by collecting unsightly debris from the town’s streets.
The initiative was started at the start of the summer by Dafydd Rees-Jones, after he was frustrated with the amount of rubbish and weeds in his town.
“I began by approaching Ysgol Cymerau, to design a poster which would be used to front my campaign and to raise awareness with the children,” he said.
“The posters have been on display in local shops since the beginning of the summer holidays and have had a warm welcome by the local businesses.
“Since the posters went up I’ve been organising clean-ups every two weeks concentrating on the main areas of the town.
“We normally go out on Sunday mornings at 10am for approximately two hours, with all the rubbish collected going to the local recycling centre .
“Thanks to everyone that has been able to help and support us – everyone is always more than welcome if they’d like to help out. Let’s keep working and make our town better.”
