Barmouth Bowling Club

DURING the season so far, the club has welcomed a number of new members and would like to take this opportunity to welcome them.

Bank Holiday Monday, 30 May, was an exceptionally popular day with the bowling green full to capacity with both members and visitors.

Thanks are due to Patrick and Rose Martin for organising a Race Night which was held at the Buffs Club in Barmouth on 3 June.

This was a very enjoyable evening with lots of fun and also a great help to the fund raising activities.

The club hope that Patrick and Rose will continue with their sterling work to help the club in this way.

On 11 June, a club match for the Cyril Hudson Cup was won by the lady captain, Pauline Roberts, with runner-up Meirion Roberts.

Saturday, 25 June saw another match for the men’s’ doubles trophy. This was won by Ron Rees and men’s captain David Evans.

Runners-up were Brian Williams and the Club’s President Vic Tritton.

Saturday, 2 July’s match for the Bill Gaskill Centenary Shield, was won by Brian Williams, runner-up was Meirion Williams.

Despite rabbits taking up residence and some pretty poor weather in the latter half of June, the programme continues on schedule.

Merched y Wawr

I ddiweddu tymor llwyddiannus aeth 14 o’n aelodau draw i westy hyfryd Glan yr Afon ym Mhenal, i fwynhau cinio ganol dydd blasus.

Wedi’r cinio diolchodd Llewela, ein llywydd, i bawb o’r aelodau am eu cydweithrediad a’u parodrwydd i helpu yn ystod y flwyddyn.

Anfonodd ein cofion at yr aelodau oedd yn methu bod gyda ni oherwydd salwch ac anfonwyd cyfarchion i Lilian Edwards oedd yn dathlu ei phen-blwydd yn ddiweddar. Gofynnwyd am wirfoddolwyr i ddarllen Llais Ardudwy ac mae Glenys, Gwenda, Mair, Megan a Heulwen am wneud. Diolchodd Pam i Llewela am gamu i’r adwy fel llywydd yn absenoldeb Dorothy.

Mynegodd Jean ei siom o weld cyn lleied o aelodau oedd wedi cystadlu yng nghystadleuthau’r sioe sir. Yna aethom draw i eglwys hynafol Penal lle roedd Anwen, cyfeilles i Grace, yn aros amdanom a chawsom sgwrs tu hwnt o ddifyr ganddi yn olrhain hanes yr eglwys.

Cyfeiriodd at ddarlun enwog Aneurin Jones o Owain Glyndwr oedd yn crogi mewn lle amlwg yn yr eglwys.

Oherwydd prinder amser roedd yn rhaid torri’r ymweliad yn ei flas a mynd yn ein blaenau i Gefn Caer, lle roedd Mr Elfyn Rowlands yn aros amdanom.

Cawsom groeso cynnes iawn ganddo i’w gartref canoloesol unigryw, lle tu hwnt o ddiddorol a rhaid edmygu Mr Rowlands am ei waith dyfal yn gwarchod ein treftadaeth.

Roeddem i gyd wedi mwynhau ein ymweliad â Phenal, lle digon diarth i rai ohonom ac roedd amryw yn sôn am ddod yn ôl yn fuan er mwyn gwneud cyfiawnder â’r pentref diddorol hwn.

Byddwn yn cael seibiant dros yr haf ac yn ail ymgynnyll ar 20 Medi am 12.00 ym Mhenmaenpwl, lle bydd Rhys Gwynn o’r Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol yn dod i roi sgwrs cyn i ni fynd i’r George am ginio.

Croeso cynnes iawn i aelodau hen a newydd ymuno â ni – mae rhaglen ddifyr o’n blaenau yn 2016/17.
