At the beginning of the meeting held on Monday, 3 November, at Capel-y-Groes Vestry, Carol Thomas, president, led members in a minute’s silence in memory of Doris Jones, who had been an active and long-standing member of Llanwnnen WI.

A short business meeting was then conducted before the president welcomed Ruth Mann from Blaencwrt to exhibit her sugar-craft skills to make fine flowers as cake decorations. It was obvious that Ruth is very creative and has the patience of a saint to create intricate and delicate looking flowers.

At the end of the evening Ruth adjudicated the monthly competition, namely a handmade doily and the winner was Ceinwen Roach, with Carol Thomas in second place. The evening’s raffle was won by Shân Lewis. Before departing, everybody enjoyed a cup of tea and Ann Hughes thanked Ruth for a lovely evening.
