THE WI enjoyed a busy programme of activities during the month of February.

The meeting took them on a journey to Costa Rica.

This country of spectacular volcanoes, fast-flowing jungle rivers, tropical jungles, rain forests and beautiful beaches, was brought to them through pictures and words by presenter Beti Wyn.

They enjoyed a most interesting explanation regarding this small country, located in Central America.

Its flora and fauna and wildlife such as big cats, varieties of monkeys, and birds, present an abundance of interest to those who visit the country.

A most enjoyable evening.

Members gathered for a craft afternoon, always a favourite event for the multi-talented ladies.

Fun and laughter ensued as green hearts were created in different forms and formats.

Crochet and needle-craft were also on the agenda.

The significance of the green heart is part of the Federation of Women’s Institutes “Show the Love” campaign highlighting the negative impact global warming has on our planet earth.

“Show the Love” by wearing a green heart every Valentine’s Day is one instance of WIs throughout the organisation expressing their commitment to halt climate change.

Taliesin WI ladies celebrated their Red Letter Day in March when they met again to observe St David’s Day with their celebratory meal with all the trimmings afforded to such a notable day.

A hamper full of Fairtrade goods was given as a prize to support communities, throughout the world who try to receive a fair price for the goods they produce.

Social interaction has a beneficial effect on all and helps them keep healthier. If this recipe is up your street come along and say hello.
