Abergynolwyn Show success despite heavy showers

Locals and visitors alike enjoyed Abergynolwyn Show, despite some heavy showers.

Run in conjunction with Talyllyn Railway on Saturday, 29 August, the show was opened by Abergynolwyn’s own Carnival Monarch Monty. Their trademark warmth and charm shone through, and they were accompanied by Abergynolwyn Silver Band.

Visitors embraced the wet weather and all manner of races went on as usual.

The show’s signature Wheelie Bin Race was particularly popular, with a heady mix of competitiveness and family fun.

Other visitors took refuge from heavy showers in the fabulous bar provided by Abergynolwyn’s Railway Inn, or went to look at the bumper range of top class entries in the Exhibition Tent, from cakes to crafts and gardening to photography.

There was particularly fierce competition in the Showstopper Cake category, where 1st prize was awarded to Annette Twynham for her Burger Cake.

The Best in Show Entry was hard to choose, but was eventually won by a beautiful vase of sunflowers from Kirsty Lack.

As the sun came out, some visitors sat to watch the entertainment, including the Bro Dysynni Male Voice Choir and boy soprano Ben Marinelli. Others participated in the public line dancing or browsed the many stalls and classic car and motorbike displays.

Canine visitors waited patiently for the Dog Show to start, while meeting new friends.

Abergynolwyn Show marked more than 20 years of raising money for local initiatives with another successful event thanks to the great teamwork of everyone involved and those attending.
