An 84-year-old from Drefach Felindre has been banned from the road for a year after admitting a drink driving charge.

Terence Platt, of Tresi Aur, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on 16 September.

The court heard that the 84-year-old was stopped while driving a Toyota Aygo on the B4334 at Henllan on 30 August this year.

Roadside and police station tests showed that Platt had 41 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates disqualified Platt from driving for 12 months and handed him a fine of £80.

He must also pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85 as well as a surcharge to fund victim services of £32.
