An Aberystwyth man who assaulted a female police officer has been handed a community order.

Simon Kneeshaw, of 25 Seaview Place, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates' Court on 20 December.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting Sergeant Kate Metcalf during an incident in Aberystwyth on 3 December.

Kneeshaw was handed a 12 month community order to include 100 hours of unpaid work and rehabilitation activities.

He must also pay £50 in compensation, £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
