AN Aberystwyth man caught in a sting involving a paedophile hunter may spend more time in jail after fresh offending was discovered.
David John Williams, 55, formerly of Corporation Street, is serving an extended sentence of three years and four months after he was caught in a sting operation.
Williams admitted, in December 2016, attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence and breaching a sexual harm prevention order imposed for earlier offending.
Williams had joined an internet chat room and made contact with ’Louise’, who in fact was a paedophile hunter from Manchester.
Williams went on to send Louise a photograph of his private parts and to tell her he wanted to take her virginity.
Louise agreed to meet Williams at Aberystwyth railway station, but police went to Williams’ home as he was preparing to leave for the meeting.
On Monday Williams appeared again at Swansea Crown Court to admit two offences of possessing child pornography and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Robin Rouch, prosecuting, said a mobile phone found at the time of his arrest had been recently examined and showed offending that the court had not been aware of last December.
Williams, he said, had made contact with an underage girl and encouraged her to perform sexual acts.
But it was not clear at this stage if she had actually carried them out.
That could affect the sentence Williams received, he added.
Judge Geraint Walters said he had already determined that Williams was a dangerous offender as defined by law.
Williams, who is currently serving his sentence in Usk prison, will be sentenced on 30 October.
