AN Aberystwyth man has been fined for damaging a chip shop window, but will not have to pay the £3,300 it cost to replace.

Gethyn Jones, 53, of Westminster Mews, High Street, admitted causing criminal damage to the G-One chip shop window on North Parade on 5 May this year.

He was fined £80 by magistrates in Aberystwyth and ordered to pay £85 of costs, but no compensation order was issued as magistrates said there were insufficient details provided by the prosecutor to make a compensation order.
