AN Aberystwyth paedophile has been jailed for a second time after further offending was discovered by police.
David John Williams, 55, had been jailed for three years and four months last December after he admitted arranging to meet an underage girl for sex.
Williams, of Corporation Street, was arrested as he left his home to meet the “girl” at Aberystwyth railway station. In fact, “she” was a paedophile hunter who had tipped off the police.
During the hearing, Judge Geraint Walters said he noted that it a was the second time Williams had been convicted of encouraging underage girls to meet him for sex.
Robin Rouch, prosecuting, said the evidence for the December 2016 offences was found on one of Williams’ mobile phones.
After he had been charged, police continued to inspect the mobile and discovered that he had been in contact with a 14-year-old girl from the north of England, who he also encouraged to indulge in sexual activity. Mr Rouch said the victim in this case was a real teenager.
Judge Walters said the sentence would run concurrently with the term he is presently serving in Usk prison. He issued a fresh sexual offences prevention order restricting Williams’ access to the internet.
