A Penparcau man caught drink driving while more than three times the legal limit has been banned from the road by magistrates for more than four years.

Warren Sunderland, of 7 Fourth Avenue, appeared before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on 7 October.

The court heard that the 35-year-old was stopped by police while driving a Ford Fiesta on Portland Street in Aberystwyth on 19 September this year.

Roadside and police station breath tests showed that Sunderland had 117 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Checks also showed that Sunderland was driving without insurance.

Magistrates disqualified Sunderland from driving for 50 months and handed him a community order to include 100 hours of unpaid work.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £85 as well as a surcharge to fund victim services of £114.
