TWO cousins from Nefyn are taking part in a gruelling marathon to raise funds for two local causes close to their hearts.

Bethan Morgan and Claire Banks will take part in the Anglesey Half Marathon on 5 March and will be helping to raise funds for a six-year-old boy with cerebral palsy.

Bethan’s son, Cai, was diagnosed with the condition at just two-years-old and in 2013 the youngster went through a difficult and risky procedure at Manchester Children’s Hospital where he received cochlear impacts to help him hear.

In 2014 the family began raising funds to buy Cai a tricycle which will allow the youngster to get around easier and go out to play with his friends. Now the funds from this upcoming fundraiser will help secure equipment for his future.

Claire said: “Adaptable equipment is essential to Cai, which allows him to be as mobile and independent as he can. As Cai gets bigger, his needs change, and part of the money raised will ensure Cai has access to the correct equipment.”

Another cause the cousins are fund-raising towards is Elusennau Efan, a charity started by Bethan and Bleddyn Evans, from Nefyn, in memory of their son Efan.
