An earthquake has been reported at a popular Gwynedd beauty spot.

The earthquake, which registered with a magnitude of 2.7, was recorded by the British Geological Survey at Talyllyn Lake at the foot of Cadair Idris at 3pm on Thursday, 24 September. It occurred at a depth of 14 kilometres, according to a British Geological Survey report.

“At this time, no reports have been received that this event has been felt,” a spokesperson for the British Geological Survey organisation said.

“If you live in the area and felt the earthquake, or even if you didn't, please consider filling out our questionnaire, which helps our scientists understand more about the event.”
