Unrest and dissatisfaction among some members of Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi staff and parents appears to have snowballed amid the threat of possible strike action by teachers at the school.
Back in October, the Cambrian News was told that the school had received 13 new teachers in the current academic year alone and that the ‘constant turnover’ of staff was affecting morale.
An independent inquiry was set up by Ceredigion County Council last month to investigate complaints by three ex-members of staff understood to involve allegations of bullying and harassment.
And last week the situation apparently escalated with a threat of possible strike action by teachers leading to a ballot among members of the National Association of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers.
In a statement this week, the county council confirmed that since the investigation was launched, education chiefs had received other complaints from staff and parents.
“These complaints now form part of the current investigation,” added a spokesman. “The independent investigation instigated at Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi is still ongoing. This will continue until all of the concerns raised have been considered.
“Members of the NASUWT have called upon a further ballot and union representatives have met with the local authority to discuss a resolution-focused outcome.”
