Land has been bought to build a new area school in the Aeron Valley, it has been confirmed.
The new school will be built next to Felinfach Football Club’s pitch, Ceredigion County Council announced this morning, confirming it has purchased the land. No figure has been given on the cost of the land.
Ciliau Parc, Felinfach and Dihewyd primary schools will all close to make way for the new area school in the Aeron Valley.
A consultation was held in 2019 to determine where the new school should be built and there was a strong view from locals who wished to see the school located on a new site, and not on the Theatr Felinfach campus, which was one of the original proposed options.
Cllr Catrin Miles, Cabinet member responsible for schools, said: “I’m thrilled to see that the council was successful in purchasing this location for the new area school.
“The new school will provide modern facilities and equipment for primary age pupils and will certainly be a rich addition to the Aeron Valley.”
Ceredigion council will now proceed with the next steps which includes establishing a Shadow Governing Body for the new school.
