A “COMMUNAL hub” has turned over a new leaf following a large renovation project.

There were several events held at Bala Library to welcome people back to its original site in Ysgol y Berwyn following a temporary move to Penllyn Leisure Centre while maintenance work was being carried out.

On Monday, 12 February, local children starred on Heno on S4C, while having a taste of what is available at the library.

On Tuesday, it was the adults’ turn, with a colouring and relaxing session. The communal room will offer a place for people to come together to socialise and take part in activities such as colouring, sewing and knitting.

On Thursday afternoon, there was a Murder in the Library event with the crime writers John Alwyn Griffiths and Myfanwy Alexander, who were discussing the art of writing a successful crime novel.

It was the children’s turn once again on Friday with a lively afternoon of creating monsters and playing various games. Thanks were given to Wild Elements for presenting the open air in the library, by creating an adventure activity for over 45 local children.

Various events were held for all the family on Saturday, and over 70 children and adults enjoyed events such as a treasure hunt, craft making and story time.

PCSO Iwan Roberts was very busy creating keyrings containing the children’s fingerprints.

There was a lot of anticipation to find out who had won the competition to draw Tegi, the monster of Bala Lake.

It was decided to award a prize to three drawings, with some of the winners present to collect their prizes. The board games proved to be popular with children and adults alike enjoying them.
