PUPILS from a Llanbedrog primary school have taken part in a competition to urge motorists to slow down in their community.
Following concerns from communities about road safety issues in the vicinity of Ysgol Llanbedrog the pupils along with students in Ysgol Cae Top and Ysgol Bodfeurig in Bangor joined forces with Gwynedd Council to address the problem.
After discussions, and with the aim of reducing the risk to pupils who attend Ysgol Llanbedrog, the pupils were asked by Gwynedd Council officers to create a poster aimed at encouraging drivers not to speed in the vicinity of the school.
Shirley Williams, from Gwynedd Council’s road safety unit, said: “The posters presented by the pupils were of a very high standard, which made judging very difficult. However winners had to be chosen from every school. Gwynedd Council’s Road Safety Unit would like to offer their congratulations to all the pupils for their efforts. The winning posters will be placed around the schools.”
The winning pupils from Ysgol Gynradd Llanbedrog were Freya Lois Martin and Kaitlyn Emma Harper-Smith.
