COMPASSIONATE Blaenau Ffestiniog teenagers are doing their bit to help those less fortunate than themselves this Christmas.
Ysgol y Moelwyn pupils have supported the local campaign to collect gifts for refugees this winter.
The religious education department, under the guidance of Suzanne Roberts, head of department, supported the charity work of Mudiad Pobl i Bobl and CEFN to raise awareness among parents, pupils, staff and the wider community of the plight of refugees seeking shelter from the horrors of war amidst woeful conditions.
Over the past months south Gwynedd communities have collected and sent tents, goods and food to a number of locations in order to try and improve the disastrous situation of refugees.
Dewi Lake, head master of Ysgol y Moelwyn said: “The local response has been tremendous and supporters have gone all out to contribute to this vital campaign by donating a wide range of practical every day necessities to this very worthwhile cause.
“Last week Year 9 and 10 pupils spent a busy day at the Eastern Orthodox church in Manod in order to organise and pack all the donations.
“This work will be completed next week and all the gifts will be transported by lorry."
