A SPECIAL needs school in Y Ffôr has closed its doors for the final time after serving generations of children for over 40 years.
Teachers, children and members of the community came together to spend the last day at Ysgol Hafod Lon on Friday, 14 October.
The special needs school is being replaced with a new £13m school, called Ysgol Hafod Lon Newydd, in Penrhyndeudraeth, which will open after the half-term break later this month.
Donna Roberts, head of Ysgol Hafod Lon, said she believes the environment at the new school will bolster the children’s learning.
She said: “Bringing the present facilities together will not only reduce the number of students having to travel outside of Gwynedd for care, but will also enable us to deliver more robust provisions better suited to individual learning needs.
“With state-of-the-art facilities, top teaching talent and a central location, our new facility will change the lives of the special education needs for children in the region, providing pupils with a richer and more tailored educational experience.”
