The family of a well known Llanilar farmer have this week paid tribute to him.

Hugh Tudor, 65, died on Wednesday, 17 July.

Paying tribute on Tuesday, his family said: “Hugh Tudor was a 65 year old farmer who had farmed at Tynberllan, Llanilar with his wife Ann for over 40 years. He was a devoted father to Sara, Lowri and the late Gwenno.

"Hugh was the son of the late Tom and Sybil Tudor of Glanystwyth and brother to Richard.

"Farming was his life, but he also had a wide range of interests and was actively involved in all aspects of the local community in Llanilar and beyond.

"We would like to thank everybody for their support and kindness during this difficult time.”

Paying tribute on behalf of the community, Llanilar county councillor, Meirion Davies, said: "This has come as an enormous blow to the Llanilar and surrounding area.

"He was an indispensable member of Llanilar Show Committee, an invaluable member of the Millennium committee who also had become a Llanilar Community Councillor fairly recently, just to mention a few of them.

"He proved to be a first class farmer who was heavily involved in the progression of the farming industry which meant the world to him.

"Sincere Condolences to Ann, Lowri, Sara, Richard his brother and the whole family."
