BARMOUTH RNLI had its first call-out of the year yesterday (Monday) after receiving reports of a surfer in difficulty near Tywyn.
The crew launched just after 1.20pm in their all-weather lifeboat Ella Larsen.
A spokesperson for Barmouth RNLI said: “The first pagers of the year sounded at 1.23pm as ALB Ella Larsen was tasked by the coastguard to report to a surfer in difficulty spotted off Tywyn coast.
“In good visibility as Ella Larsen and her volunteer crew were pushing into the surf reports over the radio, from the coastguard, were that the surfer had made his way to shore and the crew were stood down.
“ALB Ella Larsen and her volunteer crew returned to the boathouse where she was washed down and readied for service by 2pm."
The call-out was the first for one crew member, as the spokesperson explained.
“We’d like to congratulate Kane Triggs on his first shout since joining the shore crew.”
