A Dolgellau resident is running four half-marathons in four months to raise money for local lifesavers the South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team.
Sue Roberts, who moved to Dolgellau last year, is currently preparing for the Great North Run in Newcastle this September, having taken part in the North Wales Half-Marathon on 4 August and with two more races on the horizon – the Shrewsbury Half on 6 October, and Conwy Half on 17 November.
She said: “I have done half-marathons before but normally limit it to two per year, so four in four months is a challenge. This actually started out as just the Great North Run but, for such a fantastic cause and to raise as much money as possible, I decided that it needed to be a bit more difficult.
“I have already completed the North Wales Half-Marathon which was tough and I think my legs have only just about forgiven me.”
Sue is running to raise money for new equipment for South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team, a group of around 40 volunteers who respond to emergency call-outs and rescue people in the Snowdonia area. Their efforts are supported entirely by donations.
Sue’s husband Alan started volunteering for the team earlier this year and seeing the work that they do inspired her to raise money for them.
