Trustees of Lampeter’s Victoria Hall say the venue’s long-awaited transformation is now properly under way.
They announced in May that funding of £160,000 had been secured to develop the hall as a community arts venue.
Town councillor Dinah Mulholland said: “It’s so exciting to see this beautiful space realising its full potential once again, with the fantastic support of Lampeter Town Council, Ceredigion County Council and the Welsh Government Rural Communities Development Fund.”
“The refurbishment is due to be completed by the spring and there is likely to be a relaunch event at that point.
“Paint, materials and equipment have, wherever possible, been obtained from local suppliers, in keeping with the ethos of Transition Llambed Development Trust .
“I am absolutely delighted that the refurbishment of Lampeter’s Victoria Hall is now under way after four years of hard work obtaining the funding.
“The hall is already looking amazing thanks to the skills and commitment of the local tradespeople at work here.
“This is very much a project about developing a much-loved local asset, but keeping it in tune with its rich heritage.
“I would love to see the creation of a ‘memory bank’ of ephemera and oral histories of Victoria Hall, and hope to be working on that soon."
