Donations to Hywel Dda Health Charities have benefited the Accident and Emergency Department at Glangwili Hospital and the Acute Frailty Unit at Withybush Hospital.
Over £1,500 of charitable funds has been spent on dementia clocks for both A&E and the Acute Frailty Unit.
Dementia clocks provide a clear, easy-to-read display of the date, day and time of the day which is especially beneficial for patients experiencing confusion, memory loss or disorientation.
Aled Thomas, Senior Charge Nurse in A&E, said: “The lack of ability to correctly identify the time and day can lead to increased confusion and delirium in our patents, more so in those with pre-existing cognitive disorders such as dementia or Alzheimer’s.”
