A PEN Llyn woman is forecast for even greater things after landing her dream TV role.

Her upbringing in Eifionydd has had a big influence on Megan Williams, S4C’s new weather presenter.

Megan was part of the production team behind Y Tywydd for seven years before landing her new on-screen role, presenting the S4C weather bulletins.

Originally from Chwilog, Megan realised at an early age the impact of the weather on the lives of those around her.

“The weather has always been an integral part of my life. My father had a fishing boat and I liked to go walking in the mountains near home so we needed to know what the conditions would be like,” she said.

Megan attended school at Ysgol Gynradd Chwilog and Ysgol Glan y Môr, Pwllheli, before studying at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.

Her interests were music and performing, and she went on to study Theatre at Aberystwyth University.

This led eventually to work in the TV industry, producing news reports and short current affairs items for ITV Cymru’s Welsh website ‘Y Dydd’.

In this role she learned how to use a camera, how to direct, edit and present news items, and in 2010 she joined the S4C weather team as a producer with Llanelli based company Tinopolis.

Now, Megan has stepped in front of the camera to take on the role of presenter, and is looking forward to strengthening S4C’s blossoming relationship with the Met Office.

“We’ve been in partnership with the Met Office since November and they really are at the forefront of predicting the weather. I’m looking forward to finding out more about their system and seeing what new things we can do,” said Megan.

And, as the only ‘Gog’, Megan is proud to represent north Wales on the team of three, which includes Chris Jones and Steffan Griffiths.
