BALA book lovers are set to benefit from a newly-refurbished public library next year.
Following the confirmation that Gwynedd Council’s Library Service has secured a £120,000 grant from Welsh Government to renovate the Bro Tegid Library, the library will be temporarily relocated to part of the Penllyn Leisure Centre in the town until the upgrading work is completed.
Whilst work to carry out improvements to Bala Library’s present location at Ysgol y Berwyn will be completed during the coming months, the library will open its doors at its temporary home at the leisure centre on Tuesday, 12 July.
There will be no changes to the library’s usual opening hours following its relocation to its temporary home.
The library closed on Saturday, 1 July, with work to be done to move stock and materials before the library’s reopening at its temporary location on Tuesday, 12 July.
Cllr Ioan Thomas, cabinet member for Gwynedd Council Libraries, said: “This is an exciting period, with work about to get underway to implement improvements to Bala’s library.
“The improvements will include providing a flexible space for collections and activities, a more attractive children’s section, a meeting room for reading groups, information sessions and new computer equipment for users."
