A sports club in Dwyfor has thanked the community for helping it to raise £20,000 for a new pitch.
Pwllheli Hockey Club has reached its funding target of £20,000 and can go ahead with plans for the new facility at Pwllheli Sports Club at Bodegroes, Efailnewydd.
The club announced last year that it was in desperate need of a new pitch after its current one became too damaged to play on, following years of exposure to bad weather.
The club received some money in a grant from Sport Wales back in November 2019 but still needed to raise a further £20,000.
An auction at the club raised £6,000 and almost £1,500 was raised through a GoFundMe page.
Pupils at Ysgol Cymerau raised a further £189.70 to go towards the new pitch fund and Pwllheli Hockey club received a further boost to their fundraising when they were presented with a cheque for £1,670 from Botwnnog School’s coffee evening committee.
The money was raised at the annual Year 11 coffee evening which raised a total of £6,500.
The money will be split between local and national charities and £1,670 was awarded to Pwllheli Hockey Club.
