TOWN and community councils will be asked to help identify potential sites to bring the 2020 National Eisteddfod to Ceredigion.
There have been expressions of interest from across the county in the bidding to become the host of the Eisteddfod.
And Ceredigion Council is now set to ask town and community councils to suggest sites that would meet the requirements of the National Eisteddfod Board.
That includes a 140-acre site, close to medical facilities and a good quality road system, as well as within easy distance of the nearest town.
Cardigan Town Council has already thrown the town’s hat into the ring, but mayor John Adams-Lewis has admitted that the site the town council has identified is actually just outside of the Ceredigion boundary.
A decision on the location will be made by the National Eisteddfod Board, but the council will now ask town and community councils across Ceredigion to consider possible venues and complete an expression of interest.
