AN amateur photographer who until recently struggled to leave his home, is now displaying his amazing images captured by travelling across north Wales’ stunning rail routes in association with Arriva Trains Wales’ Confident Traveller programme.

Robert Mann, who is autistic, has exhibited his stunning photography captured travelling along north Wales’s most scenic routes.

Robert, aged 30, is a Confident Travel Ambassador for the train company and launched his exhibition in his home town of Llandudno to showcase what can be achieved with a little help.

Among the shots, taken all over north Wales, are evocative images showing off the jewels of the Cambrian coast line, including Harlech Castle.

With help from his family, support workers and the travel programme, he is now a regular face on the north Wales coast, where he combines his love of trains with his budding skills as a photographer.

“His confidence has really developed in recent years,” said Robert’s dad, Dave Mann.

“He loves taking photos and it’s been great for him to work on this project over the last couple of years.

“As part of the ambassador role, he’s now going into colleges to talk to others who may suffer from confidence issues, teaching them coping strategies for travelling on the railway.”

The event also saw children from Ysgol Maenofferen in Blaenau Ffestiniog invited along to sing at the station.

The school has been working closely with Arriva Trains Wales on another project involving safety around the railway.
