School receptionist Tracy Tedaldi has made hundreds of face coverings to raise money for Bronglais Hospital’s maternity unit.
Tracy is one of the members of the Waunfawr, Aberystwyth group of supporters, who have been helping neighbours during lockdown.
She started making washbags for nurses at Bronglais Hospital and for local care homes, and then decided to raise some money by making face coverings.
After completing and selling 400 coverings, Tracy has raised £500, which is to go towards a new birthing pool at Aberystwyth’s maternity unit.
Tracy, 56, who works at Plascrug Primary School, said: “I wanted to give something back to the NHS, who have been working so hard.
“I chose the maternity unit at Bronglais Hospital because I was in there for three weeks with pre-eclampsia, before my daughter Gabriella was born 26 years ago.
“They do a fantastic job.”
Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, Nicola Llewelyn, said: “A big thank you to Tracy and all the other people who have been so generous in fundraising for our local NHS.
“Donations to our charity make such a difference to the lives of NHS patients and staff in Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.”
