THE devastated fiancée of a ‘loving and devoted’ young father from Nefyn has paid tribute to him after he tragically died from a rare blood disease.
Lee Dobson, 26, a former gunner with the Royal Horse Artillery, died at Ysbyty Gwynedd on Tuesday, 6 December. The former Ysgol Botwnnog pupil had been diagnosed with cryoglobulinemia, a rare blood disease, as well as bronchopneumonia, a condition which causes inflammation of the lungs, and nephrotic syndrome, which causes the kidneys to leak large amounts of protein.
His heartbroken fiancée, Sharyn Louise Coombes, 27, said the family had been left devastated by his tragic death.
She said: “Lee had been undergoing seven months of treatment at Ysbyty Gwynedd before he passed away.
“He had been diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome and became very ill.
“At the time I didn’t realise how serious his condition was, I know Lee was aware but he kept it to himself to not worry me.
“We were told by the doctors that he was also suffering with bronchopneumonia and a condition which we have found is so rare, called cryoglobulinemia.
“We have been told that if he hadn’t been suffering from cryoglobulinemia he may have been able to pull through but as his immune system was so weak he just couldn’t get through it.”
