TWO well-known faces from Dwyfor are taking part in a popular television cooking show.
S4C’s cookery competition, Pryd o Sêr, returns for a new series this month and two of this year’s contestants are tenor Rhys Meirion, originally from Tremadog, and actress Marged Esli, originally from Criccieth.
Rhys said: “I’m on Pryd o Sêr because I’d like to open a Michelin Star restaurant in Pwllglas – and I need to start somewhere!”
Marged, who’s otherwise best known as Nansi on Pobol y Cwm, said: “I’m on Pryd o Sêr because I want to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks.”
Over the five episodes, eight celebrities will be under immense pressure to learn to cook as professional chefs.
The series is presented by Emma Walford, and keeping an eye on the proceedings is chef and series judge Dudley Newbery.
“In this series there’s a lot of laughter and a few shocks as the celebrities are put in some uncomfortable situations!” said Dudley.
Pryd o Sêr begins on Sunday, 22 January at 7.30pm.
