AS THE Welsh football team continue on their successful journey in Euro 2016, a timely discovery has been made at the site of a new super-school at the Ysgol Llanelltyd site.
As part of the £1 million project to develop the site which is part of the wider scheme to upgrade school buildings before the establishment of Ysgol Bro Idris in the Dolgellau area, an old pair of football boots has recently been discovered in the school’s attic.
Jano Owen, Ysgol Bro Idris headteacher, said: “As we all take pride in the fact that the Wales football team is hitting the heights in Euro 2016; it was quite timely that these football boots that date back many decades have been discovered as the work to upgrade the Llanelltyd site continues apace.
“We have all, including the pupils, been wondering what the story is behind the boots – they might well have been worn by the Gareth Bale of his day.
“If anyone locally knows anything about the boots, the school would certainly be pleased to hear from you.”
