OVER 80 Dyfed Schools athletes travelled to snow-hit Brecon to compete for the District at the Welsh Schools National Cross Country Championships.
Having been hit hard by the adverse weather 72 hours earlier, the event was in doubt, but improving conditions meant the Championships got the green light .
Eight districts, from Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff and Vale, Dyfed, Powys, Eryri, Glamorgan Valleys, North East Wales and South East Wales sent teams, in years seven, junior, middle and senior categories.
Dyfed’s best team result was in the junior boys, who won their group with ease.
Adam Beer was the overall winner in the junior race, and he was supported by his teammate, Iori Humphreys in third.
The Dyfed year seven girls also won their group, and they were led home by Chloe Hale, who won the silver medal.
For those who finished in the top eight of their race, attention now turns to the climax of the cross country season as English Schools hosts the combined SIAB and Home Countries cross country internationals at Nottingham later this month.
Welsh Schools and Welsh Athletics will be represented at the match against England, Ireland and Scotland Schools.
