A GROUP of kayakers have visited Barmouth RNLI on their way from Devon to Anglesey.
Four kayakers from Bideford Canoe Club are on a 299-mile challenge raising money for the RNLI.
Pete Thorn, Emily Harding, Kevin Sumner and Ian Dring hope to raise £5,000 for the lifeboat charity.
They set out from Appledore in Devon on 13 July and called in at Barmouth en route where they were met by Second Coxswain Rob Williams and Barmouth RNLI volunteers Anthony Schorah and Dan Griffith.
After completing their leg on Saturday from Aberystwyth to Barmouth, they were met at the shoreline and taken to the boathouse where they enjoyed a chat with the crew, offered hot drinks and biscuits and used the shower facilities.
This also gave them the opportunity to check the chart for their next leg to Shell Island then across to the Llyn Peninsula.
Rob thanked them for their fund-raising efforts and kayaker Peter Thorn replied: “Having spent so much time on the water, we know how vital the RNLI is to the UK and the recent BBC series Saving Lives at Sea really reinforces the importance of ensuring that this fantastic organisation can operate for years to come.”
