THE rain held off in Machynlleth on Saturday for the return of the town's annual carnival.

Festivities started at 10.30am with live music by the clock tower with the parade, led by Batala Bermo, taking to the streets at 12.30pm, with floats and fancy dress.

The carnival then moved to Y Plas where there was live music, entertainment, a fun fair and refreshments.
