The Machynlleth Christmas lights switch-on date has been announced.

The lights will be switched on this year on Saturday 29 November.

Businesses in the town are arranging a late-night shopping evening to coincide with the event, which will see the Christmas tree by the clock tower and lights along the high street switched on for the first time.

More details will be announced by Machynlleth Town Council nearer the time.

Olly Cameron from Hermit Crab Coffee and Lily Willow from Tymhorau Cymru, co-ordinators of the late-night shopping evening, said: “All businesses in Machynlleth are invited to stay open late for the event, which last year featured shopping, mince pies, and live music.

“It is open to everyone, and people can make it their own.”
