Powys County Council’s carbon emissions dropped by 2.9 per cent last year, and the authority has saved £277,000 by putting solar panels on its buildings.

A Cabinet meeting on 22 September received the net zero annual report for 2025 which shows that the council’s carbon emissions have dropped by 2.9 per cent from the figures in 2023/24.

The council has also conducted an energy-saving project by installing solar panels on buildings including County Hall in Llandrindod Wells which has shaved £277,000 from the authority’s energy bill.

The report also says that, by August 2025, a total of 819 council properties had been upgraded with insulation, heat pumps, solar panels, smart controls and domestic battery storage systems.
