THE DYFI Bridge was closed again on Monday as river levels reached near record highs after driving rain and high winds battered west Wales.
The river level rose to 3.87 metres at 2.30pm on Monday, leaving the bridge impassable for the third time in less than a month.
The typical river level is between 0.82m and 2.08m, with a record high of 4.03m being reached in 2009.
The closure once again left motorists facing a massive detour, while trains between Newtown and Machynlleth were also cancelled due to flooding.
The Met Office issued yellow warnings for wind and rain on Monday and into Tuesday morning, while the Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the Dyfi Valley extending into Tuesday morning.
