A MACHYNLLETH army cadet has been praised for springing into action to provide first-aid assistance to people involved in serious car crash.
Holly Vincentelli, 15, was travelling home from Oswestry when she saw the crash, which involved three cars. She assessed casualties, including one person who was suffering from shock.
Holly, a Cadet Lance Corporal in the Machynlleth detachment of Gwent and Powys Army Cadet Force where she has received first-aid training, has won praise from her Commandant for helping at the scene.
Colonel David Chipp said: “We are very proud of Holly and her admirable reactions.
“Her calm and professional approach made a real contribution to aiding the casualties and enabling the emergency services to do their jobs.
“The incredible initiative shown by Holly included giving up her own jumper to keep a casualty warm.
“She is a great example of the qualities and character that being a cadet can equip young people with."
After seeing the aftermath of the crash, Holly assessed the crash and the casualties before spotting that one of the people involved was in shock and needed extra attention.
She then helped to make the casualties comfortable before briefing the fire officer and air ambulance crew when they arrived on the scene.
While emergency services got to grips with the scene, Holly assisted during the handover, including speaking to and reassuring family members of the casualties.
