CAERNARFON Town produced a stunning comeback to demolish Cambrian United 9-1 at The Oval on Friday night, with nine different players finding the net in an extraordinary Novira Cymru Premier encounter.

Cambrian, who had conceded just 11 goals in their opening nine league matches, made a bright start and took a deserved lead through Ashley Evans after 16 minutes.

However, the Canaries responded emphatically. Zack Clarke levelled before Paulo Mendes fired the hosts ahead as momentum swung firmly in Caernarfon's favour.

The match took another twist 10 minutes before half-time when both sides were reduced to 10 men following a touchline altercation involving Town goalkeeper Connor Roberts and Joshua Beecher.

Caernarfon extended their advantage deep into first-half stoppage time. Jake Canavan sparked a rapid counter-attack from near the halfway line before racing forward to finish the move himself.

Any hopes of a Cambrian revival disappeared shortly after the restart when Kyle Jones was sent off for bringing down Clarke as he prepared to shoot. The referee upgraded the offence to a red card after consulting VAR Light, and Sion Bradley converted the resulting penalty.

Adrian Cieslewicz added a fifth with a composed finish beyond Kelland Absalom before captain Ryan Sears made it 6-1 with a low strike inside the post as the visitors struggled to contain the relentless hosts.

Caernarfon continued to dominate and Noah Edwards got in on the act with a close-range finish. Matty Jones and Offrande Zanzala then completed the rout as the Canaries ran riot in the closing stages.

Manager Richard Davies was delighted with his side's response after criticising their performance in Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Llandudno.

"We asked the boys for a reaction, and what a reaction we got," he said.

“Connor's sending off was a disappointment, but otherwise I can't give the boys enough credit.”
