NEWCASTLE Emlyn booked their place in the next round of the Dai Dynamo Davies Memorial Cup with a commanding 7-0 victory over Llanilar Reserves at Castle Hill Park.

After a goalless first half, Emlyn came to life after the break, scoring seven unanswered goals. Osian Thomas was the star of the show, netting five times, while substitutes Ashley Campbell and Timothy Griffiths also found the target.

Manager Gareth Winston said: “The morale is high and we have a great team spirit here. It’s the best we’ve had in a long while.

“I felt we were a little flat in the first half, but we were much better after the break and to score seven goals in 45 minutes is a great achievement.”

Borth United also progressed with a 3-1 victory away at Corris United.

Shay Reilly opened the scoring for the Crows, finishing from a Joe Green assist to give the visitors a 1-0 half-time lead.

Corris hit back shortly after the restart through Brian Jones, but Borth remained solid defensively and their substitutes proved influential late on.

Taylor Vaughan restored the visitors’ advantage in the 84th minute before Matty Bufton burst through the defence six minutes later to wrap up the win.

Padarn United are also through after securing a deserved 2-0 win over a strong Aberaeron side at the Square Field.

Dylan Roberts broke the deadlock on 31 minutes following good work from Owen Griffiths, while Roberts turned provider early in the second half as William Jessop doubled the lead to seal the victory.

Dewi Stars bowed out after a 5-2 defeat away to Premier Division outfit Llanboidy FC.

The hosts went ahead through Dafydd Jones, but Rhodri Edwards quickly restored parity for the Stars. Llanboidy regained control through Harri Jones and Gethin Scourfield to establish a 3-1 half-time advantage.

The visitors responded well after the interval and reduced the deficit on the hour mark when captain Edwards converted a penalty after Ethan Rees, making his first start for the club, was brought down in the area.

However, Llanboidy finished strongly. Ryan Taylor capitalised on a goalmouth scramble to make it 4-2 before Ethan Ryan added a fifth in stoppage time.

Llandysul edged a thrilling seven-goal contest to defeat Ceidwaid Aberystwyth 4-3 after extra time at Parc Tir y Dref.

Noa Lloyd handed the hosts a half-time lead, but Aberystwyth turned the game around early in the second half through William O’Rourke and George Steven. Osian Mason-Evans levelled for Llandysul shortly after the hour mark and the sides could not be separated in normal time.

Mason-Evans struck again in extra time to put Llandysul back in front, only for Evan Street to equalise for the visitors. Cadog Edwards had the final say, netting a late winner to send Llandysul through.

Elsewhere, Tomos Green scored twice as Ffostrasol Reserves secured a 4-2 victory at Machynlleth Reserves. Marc Bowen and Cian Edwards were also on target, while Morgan Evans and Jonah Crompton replied for the Cae Glas outfit.

Crymych came from behind to beat Pencader United 2-1. Bradley Rowland had given the hosts the lead in first-half stoppage time, but goals from Sion Vaughan and Rhodri George turned the tie in Crymych’s favour and secured their place in the next round.
